Love, perfect and eternal

Decades of highway ahead of me
Some rocky roads left far behind
In this world where nothing is forever
I find it’s you who’s always on my mind
Your love is perfect and eternal
It shines through my darkest days
And though the future can’t be told
I know you’ll light our way
It doesn’t matter blessings the day brings
Or what demons lurks in night so cold
I am without want, need or fear
When I have you to hold
Your love is perfect and eternal
It shines through my darkest days
And though the future can’t be told
I know you’ll light our way
You are the rose that has no thorn
You are the chords of our song
You have all of me in our here and now
You’ll have when when our days are gone
Decades of highway ahead of me
Some rocky roads left far behind
In this world where nothing is forever
I find it’s you who’s always on my mind
The Story: Many singers are fond of saying that all songs are about girls. Many singers are stupid. This comes from spending way too much time in bars and going home with a different girl every night (the singers get most of the girls). It warps the average singers perception, which is pretty warped to being with.
But, this song is about a woman – alive, vibrant, and who has made the tragic mistake of marrying an old songwriting cowboy. She’ll get over it, but the cowboy is sunk.
