Occupy Nothing
Not enough can be said about the spectacular failure that was the Occupy movement, which moved nothing.
It is easy enough to gloat about the lack of progress these progressives achieved, doing little more than annoying locals and erupting into occasional riots. People with jobs (which includes even lowly writers) viewed occupiers as occupied people tend to, with disdain To take time away from work, family and life in order to camp on public property might seem enjoyable to the camper. But to rush hour workers stepping over the lazy carcasses, it was no picnic in the public park.
Imagine then my amusement on a recent weekend afternoon as I wheeled past San Jose, California’s city hall and encountered the Occupy movement in full form. This is not to say the single protester was a full figured gal, but that her lonely and loony roadside rally was sad in its delusion.
A single person doth not a movement make.
However, this lady (we’ll assume the best of her civility though not her sanity) is now the poster child for the OWS mobs. She is the new symbol of abject failure, of false political ideals and sloppy implementation. Let her forever be beautified as the Patron Saint of Stupid Causes. May she forever live on the Internet as a vivid reminder that knowing what you are talking about is the first step to recruiting others to your misguided cause.
