Rham Headed

Many folks think the perpetually foul-mouthed mayor of Chicago long ago lost his mind.

We now have proof.

Rham Emanuel, Barack Obama’s former Chief of Staff, has tossed his political head into the never ceasing Chicago gun control abattoir. This new-found champion of lost causes now demands the Land of Lincoln (you remember him, the fellow who gave second amendment and other rights to slaves) register all handguns sold in the state. The alleged intent is to find the original purchasers of handguns that wind up being misused by hoodlums in the hog butcher for the world.

It might not have occurred to the seeming syphilitic Emanuel that hoodlums might be a better focal point of his efforts.

As all politicians do, Rham rammed his opening gambit with a stream of propaganda that is amazing in its convolutions and contrived touch points. Rham rambled “We need to close that hole.” Assuming he was not referring to his major facial orifice, his assertion begs the question how a registered firearm stops average street thugs from capping competing gang members. Registration has been tried in many, many, many places and has not affected violent crime rates. Not in New Zealand. Not in Australia, Germany, neighboring Canada, Massachusetts or New York (this last one being where the other mentally ailing proponent of gun control, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, resides).

Nor has registration deterred violent crime in California. I once spoke to a field representative for the state’s Department of Justice who asserted that California’s gun registration has rarely solved a crime. Its only effect is to know if a newly convicted felon ever bought a gun, and even then those guns may no longer be in the felon’s possession.

Rham registration protection offered his first bit of agitprop:

The Lie of Legislative Salvation: Assuring people that law by itself will cure a social ill.

“Our laws are … keeping their kids safe, rather than making them more vulnerable.”  Until recently it was illegal to even own a handgun in Chicago. Sane humans and even small children would think an outright ban would be more effective than a registration scheme. Since the former failed miserably, the latter is likely even less effective. Hence we might concluded that Rham is, by definition, either insane or possesses only an infantile intellect … or both. But those conditions did not stop Rham from tossing two more propaganda grenades:

The Lie of Concern (hiding behind kids): Demonstrating an insincere state of concern for others in order to achieve tangential objectives.

The Lie of More: Insisting that more of the same will produce a different outcome.

Sadly, Emanuel continues. “You already buy a title for a car. You already buy a title for a motorcycle. You buy a title for a boat. I’m not asking you to do anything you don’t do already.” Transportation devices piloted on public passages and prone to pulverizing one another require registration and often a license to use them. A device of self defense kept in a home does not. Granted, legal realities have never bothered the gun control industry or other statists, but inflicting fees and delays upon people seeking to save their own lives is only irrationally connected to hurling a ton of Detroit automotive steel down a public highway.

Do they still make cars in Detroit?

The issue though is not guns, registration or even the few remaining dendra in Rham cranium. The issue is Chicago’s own Joyce Foundation, the money machine behind both the gun control industry and Barack Obama’s ascendancy. Obama spent eight long years on Joyce’s board in a period where they financed anti-second amendment “scholarship”, funded books backing the banning of all handguns, and polluting television programming with rigged scripts that made guns and not criminals appear vile.

Barack’s job was to approve those projects. Rham’s job is to continue the con.

Ignorance wins when ideology trumps thought, research and real effort to solve the cause (not the symptom) of the problem. Emanuel may well be ignorant (doubtful) or ideological (without doubt) or lazy (at least about gang control). But he is not stupid … merely evil.
