I think a grumbling ghost could describe a person in this life as well, someone caught up too much in their own head and thoughts, at the expense of fully experiencing real life through the body and senses.

Antero Alli calls such a state Chapel Perilous or Darkmoor, a psychological state likened to quite a sinister ghostly state of limbo, a place of delusion, obsession and repetative thoughts.

What I find interesting about it is that recognising that you are in such a state can be the first step to getting out of it.

'Chapel Perilous can be thought of as a non-local strata (beyond time/space) where lost, damaged and/or abandoned souls remain in suspension until retrieved and reintegrated as a living presence through our bodies here on Earth.' Antero Alli

If I have to fill in a form to get into heaven I'm not going, especially if they start telling me how to live my life, but i don't want to go to hell either... I expect I'll spend the afterlife grumbling and being indecisive unless I thankfully get extinguished at last.
If I've learnt anything it's that I want my next life to be simple.
