Rational Infidel

February 21st, 2007

I heard Ayaan Hirsi Ali speak last night.  Ayann has an interesting past, and a level of courage not often seen, much less tested, outside of combat zones.  Then again of late she is a one woman target.

In an hour she related two rather disturbing observations concerning the Islamofacists.  The first and most disturbing is her claim that Osama bin Laden’s rants about law set for in the Quran were right.  Not that they were sane, richeous, or rational, but that Osama had correctly stated the Quran’s passages, and hence its edicts and laws. It was this one discovery that transformed Ayann from a Muslim to an atheist, and thus had her branded as an Infidel.

Her other disheartening observation was how Muslims in general reacted or failed to react to world events.  She noted that an untrue rumor of a Quran being flushed down a commode at Club Guantanamo caused mass riots and deaths around the world, and nary a peep about reason, restraint, and perspective.  Likewise when a few bored cartoonists published depictions of Muhammad in a third-tier Danish newspaper, more riots and death occurred, and again the bulk of the world’s Muslims failed to speak ill of the rioters.

Yet, in the face of the grand indecencies like 9/11, there was not a large and widespread reaction from Muslims, which there should have been.

Her explanation (in part) was that Muslims are not granted the latitude for critique of their own faith.  Funny what having an AK-47 pointed at the back of your skull will do to your free will.  Paraphrasing heavily, she said Muhammad and the Quran are considered infallible, and thus anything done in the name of protecting either is permissible.  Hence, no degree of rational thought stands a chance against an armed Muslim who believes the Quran allows death sentences for thinking differently, and to own as slaves any non-Muslim.

Knowing mainly Muslims in the U.S., I see that they are not fanatical about their religion, but they are also not visible and vocal about objecting to the idiocy of their radical brethren.  Their silence will in the long run be deadlier than any bomb an Islamofascist might obtain.  This in turns emboldens raving loons like Iran’s Ahmadinejad to be more militant, and raise fears in the west of Islam.

I’ll repeat myself (which I am far too found of doing): Islam must cleans itself of their radicals lest the west decides that separating the good Muslims from the bad is a waste of time.  The west is not a threat to Islam … Osama and Ahmadinejad are.

Muddled Murtha

February 20th, 2007

“Representative” John Murtha recently devolved into a state of delusional thinking heretofore unknown outside of Britney Spear’s internal dialogue.

Murtha has made claim that when the United States leaves Iraq, so will Al Qaeda.  I can forgive a bit of muddled think from the old, the enfeebled, and those who perhaps suffer post traumatic stress disorder.  Murtha apparently qualifies from all three and perhaps some blunt force cognitive disorders as well.

Anyone who has bothered to read the ramblings of Al Qaeda’s Chief Loon knows that conquest is their primary objective.  As the Crusaders before them, they live on the fanciful and equally false notion that they are doing God’s work.  Thus any act of naked violence is, in their alleged minds, justified in advance.

Note to bin Laden:  God doesn’t need your help.  Which part of “all powerful” did you fail to grasp?

What we have now is the negative-intellectual interchange between a rabid anti American thug, and some fellow from the middle east.  The contest appears to be which of the two will display the most criminally insane ideas.

The sad part is whomever wins this contest damages the free world.

(w)holy adoration

February 17th, 2007

We should not be surprised that adoration, which is a fault causing one to see nothing bad in another, is most often used for the various Gods.  It is theorized that this is false adoration, and instead a complex expression of fear.

Giuliani = Toast

February 13th, 2007

There are many reasons to vote against a candidate, and this past weekend Rudy Giuliani displayed three.

Two errors were born of ignorance (it could also be stupidity, but he seems a little to smart to have that failing).  While speaking to California Republicans, Giuliani said:

1) He used gun control to reduce crime in New York

2) His brand of gun control would have no effect on hunting (he made this claim after saying “I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms.”)

The former claim is ignorant in as much as there are a multitude of variables (all well vetted by criminologists) as a determinate for crime reduction.  While in office, Giuliani himself rapidly expanded the size of his police force, a variable known to deter criminals.  He also did this during the 1990s when crime was falling nationally, and was a key variable in what occurred in New York. Yet even the Federal Government, through years of research, concluded that gun control has no demonstrable effect on crime.

Let me be blunt: I publicly challenge Rudy to back-up his claim.  I know he’ll duck the challenge because he doesn’t have the data or the stones to prove his point.

On his latter claim, he displays a bewildering ignorance of the scope of the Second Amendment.  I won’t recite the full scope here (it is so well documented that it is hard to imagine how anyone with a G.E.D. or better could not comprehend that the Second Amendment has the least to do with hunting).  For him to take this position when the 30-to-1 consensus of constitutional lawyers and the common public wisdom disagrees, is either a slimy attempt to placate the masses, or a massive delusion.  Either way, it does not bode well for Rudy’s candidacy.

These factors alone would be enough to kill his candidacy, but mix Giuliani’s misguided constitutional assumptions with the general distrust of New Yorkers that exists south of the Mason-Dixon line, and you have a candidate that will fail to draw the growing half of the voting populace.

This was his third mistake — believing that everyone thinks like a New Yorker.  Fact is you will not find anyone outside of New York that does (with the exception of a few transplanted Yankees who in their retirement years have invaded the South).

Good bye Rudy.  You are sunk from the start, and will not rise above a statistical footnote.

God’s Global Plan

February 10th, 2007

The fact that humans can drown in 2/3 of the world shows God’s ultimate plan for us. If global warming is a fact, it shows man’s desire to accelerate the process.
