Gun School
October 3rd, 2006It appears the politicians were wrong, and Marylin Manson was right.
Politicians and other miscreants alive and crawling in 1990 enacted a piece of legislative lunacy with the beguiling title of the “Gun Free School Zones Act“. This national edict — which quite arguably is as unconstitutional as it is inane — attempted to keep guns not only off of public school campuses, but 1,000 feet away. In those medieval days of the early 90’s, critics predicted that junior gangsters and criminally insane individual (not currently incarcerated in Congress) would ignore the law and go to schools specifically to shoot unarmed pupils and principals.
The chickens are roosting atop corpses this year. Yesterday, Amish girls were picked off execution style by a deranged milkman with a child molesting past. A principal was capped in Wisconsin last week. Girls were sexually assaulted, and one killed in a Colorado school after summer vacation. A Vermont teacher caught a bullet in August.
And in each of these cases the shooters knew they would not face a parent, administrator, or teacher who could resist because the benevolent federal government forced them to disarm. Politicians were wrong in 1990, and the body count rises in the name of Congress.
On the other hand, Marilyn Manson was absolutely right when he said “Times have not become more violent. They have just become more televised.” This may be true. When one section-eight candidate succeeds in a schoolyard killing, others sitting in their 24/7 news cycle dementia have surely followed the televised example.
